U.S. Weather Update 3.6.23

Summary:
Snow and mixed precipitation will impact most of the north-central US into the Ohio Valley. Rain and snow will move into parts of the Mid-Atlantic by Monday evening into Tuesday. Strong wind, low humidity, and dry fuels will contribute to the areas of Elevated and Critical Risk of fire weather in the Southern High Plains. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-84, I-90, I-15, I-94, I-80, I-25, I-29, I-35, I-41, I-75, I-76, I-79, I-86, I-95


Pennsylvania 
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 AM EST Tuesday morning

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning commute.

Maine 
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM EST this afternoon

  • Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and powerlines. Isolated to scattered power outages may result. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM EST this afternoon

  • Snow and blowing snow. Additional snow accumulations 1 to 2 inches mainly across the far north. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility in open areas and produce snow drifts across roads. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. Strong winds may cause some damage to trees and power lines.

Texas 
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CST this morning

  • Visibility less than one mile in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

California
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM PST Tuesday afternoon

  • Additional snow expected. Additional snow accumulations of a couple inches. Winds gusting as high as 70 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PST Wednesday morning

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches.
  • Impacts: Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

New Mexico 
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 9 AM MST this morning

  • West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
