U.S. Weather Update 3.5.24

Summary:
Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible across parts of the Southern Plains into the lower Mississippi Valley. Locally heavy rain will impact the central Gulf Coast. Another Pacific storm will produce moderate to heavy precipitation amounts into northern California and southwestern Oregon. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-80, I-84, I-86, I-55, I-72, I-40, I-10, I-35, I-37, I-45, I-95


Illinois
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 AM CST this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Oregon
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM MST this evening

  • Snow. Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, with locally up to 4 inches.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 PM MST this evening

  • Heavy snow. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult.

Texas
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Idaho
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM MST this afternoon

  • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. A few power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 AM MST Wednesday morning

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 12 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing and drifting snow could significantly reduce visibility.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 AM MST Wednesday morning

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be difficult. Areas of blowing and drifting snow could significantly reduce visibility.
