Weather Update 3.31.22

Summary: A regional outbreak of severe thunderstorms will continue through tonight over portions of the central Gulf Coast states. The greatest concerns are tornadoes and widespread damaging wind gusts. The threat of severe thunderstorms will exist across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast tomorrow. Winter weather will impact the far upper Midwest and into the Northeast Thursday.

Missouri 

Flood Warning
  • Flood Warning in effect from this morning to late Saturday morning
    • Minor flooding is forecast
    • Impacts: At 41.0 feet, minor flooding affects low lying areas

 

Wisconsin 

Winter Weather Advisory
  • Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon EDT today
    • Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches
    • Winds gusting as high as 35 mph
    • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions

Michigan 

Winter Weather Advisory
  • Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening
    • Rain and freezing rain transitioning to snow. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches
    • Additional ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch
    • Winds gusting as high as 35 mph
    • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility

 

Maine 

Winter Weather Advisory
  • Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning
    • Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch
    • Sleet accumulations up to one tenth of an inch
    • Ice accumulations of a light glaze expected
    • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions

 

North Carolina  

High Wind Warning
  • High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 AM EDT this morning
    • For the High Wind Warning, south winds 20 to 35 mph
      • Gusts up to 70 mph
  • Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM EDT this morning
    • South winds 10 to 25 mph
      • Gusts up to 50 mph
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles

 

Additional Wind Advisories include but not limited to: Montana, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida

  • Wind Advisories stretch across the US

    • Northwest winds 30 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected

 

Additional Flood Advisories include but not limited to: North Dakota, Minnesota, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Illinois, and Indiana

  • Flood Advisories effective until further notice
    • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast
