Summary: Severe storms with potential for damaging winds and brief tornadoes can be expected across the Southeast. Strong to severe storms will be possible into the Ohio Valley and southern Mid-Atlantic. Some storms may produce locally heavy rain and flash flooding. Mixed wintry precipitation may make travel difficult in the Upper Great Lakes, with lesser impacts over higher elevations in the Northeast

Impacted due to damaging southern storm system: I-10, I-20, I-55, I-59, I-65, I-75, I-85

Impacted due to upper midwest snow storm: I-35, I-75, I-94

California

Wind Advisory

  • Wind Advisory remains in effect until 2 PM PDT this afternoon
    • East winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 50 mph
      • Isolated gusts to 60 mp
    • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Travel could be difficult for high profile vehicles
 

New Mexico

Winter Weather Advisory / Wind Advisory
  • Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until 9 AM MDT this morning
    • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations 2 to 4 inches
    • Impacts: Plan on snow packed and icy road conditions
    • Where: I-40
  • Wind Advisory remains in effect from 11 AM until 7 PM MDT this evening
    • North winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected
    • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs may be blown down. Expect strong cross winds on area roadways

 

Colorado

High Wind Warning
  • High Wind Warning in effect from 10 AM this morning to 5 PM MDT this afternoon
    • North winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 70 mph expected
    • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and damaging winds may blow down trees and power lines. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles

 

North Dakota

Flood Warning
  • Flood Warning for snowmelt remains in effect until further notice 
    • Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast
    • Where: Stretching along eastern border

 

South Dakota

Wind Advisory
  • Wind Advisory is in effect from 10 AM this morning to 7 PM CDT this evening
    • North winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to around 50 mph expected
    • Impacts: Sudden wind gusts can cause drivers to lose control, especially in lightweight or high profile vehicles. Strong winds can cause blowing dust, reduced visibility, and flying debris
    • Where: Mellette County, Todd County and Tripp County

 

Minnesota 

Winter Storm Warning / Flood Warning
  • Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 PM CDT this afternoon
    • Moderate to heavy mixed precipitation. Snow accumulations up to two inches
    • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions
  • Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice 
    • Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast
    • Where: Western border

 

Wisconsin 

Winter Storm Warning
  • Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 PM CDT this afternoon
    • Moderate to heavy mixed precipitation. Snow accumulations up to two inches
    • Ice accumulations up to two tenths of an inch
    • Impacts: Ice accumulations could produce some damage to trees and power lines. Plan on slippery road conditions

Michigan

Winter Storm Warning / Winter Weather Advisory / Flood Warning
  • Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening
    • Freezing rain, snow and some sleet
    • Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches
    • Ice accumulations of up to two tenths of an inch
    • East winds gusting as high as 35 mph
    • Impacts: Power outages and tree damage are possible due to the ice and snow accumulation. Plan on difficult travel conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning commute
  • Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening
    • Mixed precipitation, primarily snow and sleet this morning
      • Light freezing rain and rain will mix in this afternoon
    • Additional snow and sleet accumulations of 2 to 4 inches
    • Ice accumulations of a light glaze
    • Winds gusting as high as 40 mph
    • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions
  • Flood Warning in effect until now until Saturday afternoon
    • Minor flooding is forecast

 

Tennessee

Flood Warning / High Wind Warning
  • Flood Warning in effect until tomorrow morning
    • Minor flooding is forecast
  • High Wind Warning remains in effect until 2 PM EDT this afternoon
    • Southeast winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 70 mph
    • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles
    • Where: Eastern border

 

North Carolina

Wind Advisory

  • Wind Advisory remains in effect until 2 PM EDT this afternoon
    • South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 45 to 50 mph
      • Very high ridgetops may see gusts to 55 mph
    • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles
    • Where: Western border
