U.S. Weather Update 3.21.24

Summary:
A developing Gulf Coast storm may bring heavy rain and flooding from the Southern U.S. into the Mid-Atlantic late Thursday into this weekend, meanwhile, heavy snow will be possible from the Northern Plains into the Northeast. More heavy snow is expected to overspread eastern Montana late Saturday, then expand into the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest by Sunday night, producing difficult travel. Impacted Lanes: I-15, I-90, I-94, I-29, I-35, I-81, I-95


Wisconsin
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM CDT Friday afternoon

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the Thursday morning and evening and Friday morning commutes.

Maine
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM EDT this evening

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 6 and 11 inches with the heaviest amounts near Route 11. Winds increasing and gusting as high as 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes. Very strong winds could cause significant blowing and drifting of the snow. Isolated power outages possible.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 2 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations between 4 and 6 inches for a storm total of 6 to 8 inches. Winds increasing and gusting as high as 55 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult.

Massachusetts
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening

  • West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
