U.S. Weather Update 3.20.24

Summary:
There will be additional lake effect snow showers focused downwind of Lake Ontario in New York, and a developing low pressure system will spread snowfall east into northern New England. Strong, gusty winds and dry air may produce elevated fire weather conditions across portions of the Mid-Atlantic and Southern Plains on Wednesday. Impacted Lanes: I-94, I-75, I-69, I-90, I-79, I-80, I-81


New York
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening

  • Accumulating snow. ADDITIONAL snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening

  • Snow. ADDITIONAL snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Tennessee
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CDT Thursday evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Expect continued overflow in poor drainage areas and water over roadways. Some low-water crossings may become impassable.

Pennsylvania
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening

  • Lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions and poor visibility. The hazardous conditions should impact today's morning and evening commutes.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening

  • Wind gusts from the west up to 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
