Summary: Severe thunderstorms are expected Friday from the mid-Mississippi River Valley south to the northern Gulf Coast. The greatest tornado threat will be along the Alabama/Florida line where significant tornadoes will be possible. 

Kansas

Winter Weather Advisory / Wind Advisory

  • Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning
    • Wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 3 inches possible mainly on grassy areas
    • The snow will gradually diminish through this morning
    • Impacts: Plan on poor visibility with the potential for slick roads. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute
  • Wind Advisory remains in effect until noon CDT today
    • North winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected
    • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Travel could be difficult for high profile vehicles
 

Nebraska

Winter Weather Advisory
  • Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon CDT today
    • Wet snow. Additional snow accumulations of up to 3 inches possible
    • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility
    • Where: Southeastern region 

 

Oklahoma

Wind Advisory
  • Wind Advisory in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening
    • West winds near 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 40 mph expected
    • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects and make travel difficult in high profile vehicles

Texas

Wind Advisory
  • Wind Advisory in effect until 4 PM CDT this afternoon
    • Northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph
    • Impacts: Driving on area roadways may become difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles

 

Iowa

Winter Weather Advisory
  • Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM CDT this afternoon
    • Heavy wet snow developing this morning
    • Snow. Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches
      • Locally higher amounts on grassy or elevated surfaces may occur
    • The wind will gust as high as 35 mph
    • Impacts: Plan on snow or slush covered roadways and slippery road conditions. Travel could be difficult for high profile vehicles

 

Dense Fog Advisories include but are not limited to: Maine, Vermont, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Georgia, Florida 

  • Dense Fog Advisories in effect this morning
    • Visibility less than one mile in dense fog
    • Impacts: Low visibility will make navigation difficult
  •  

Flood Warnings include but not limited to: Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, and South Carolina

  • Flood Advisories effective until further notice

    • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast
