Summary: Locally strong thunderstorms with heavy downpours will impact parts of the northern Gulf Coast into central Florida Tuesday where flash, urban, and small stream flooding is possible. Impacted: I-10, I-20, I-27, I-35, I-40, I-25

Major lanes of concern:
  • Interstate 10 in Texas from El Paso to San Antonio
  • Interstate 20 from the Interstate 10 junction to Dallas-Fort Worth
  • Interstate 27 in Texas from Lubbock to Amarillo
  • Interstate 35 from Dallas-Fort Worth to Oklahoma City
  • Interstate 40 from Gallup, New Mexico, to Oklahoma City

 

California

Wind Advisory 

  • Wind Advisory in effect until 11 AM PDT this morning
    • Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 45 mph expected
    • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects
 

Wyoming

Winter Weather Advisory
  • Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon MDT today
    • Snow. Total snow accumulations generally ranging from 2 to 5 inches with localized bands of 5 to 10 inches possible
      • The highest accumulations will be on grassy surfaces
    • Impacts: Hazardous travel conditions due to icy, snow covered roads and reduced visibilities in moderate to heavy snow
    • Where: Southeastern region 

 

Colorado

Winter Weather Advisory / Winter Storm Warning
  • Winter Weather Advisory has been extended until noon MDT today
    • Snow expected. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches
      • 6 to 12 inches above 8500 feet
    • Winds gusting as high as 35 mph
    • Impacts: Travel will be very difficult. Roads will be snowpacked or icy for the this morning's commute. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.
  • Winter Storm Warning through noon this morning
    • Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches
    • Winds gusting up to 25 mph.Snow ongoing
    • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning commute

New Mexico

Winter Weather Advisory / Winter Storm Warning / Wind Advisory
  • Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 6 PM MDT this evening
    • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches
      • Up to 8 inches at mountain tops
      • Winds gusting as high as 45 mph
    • Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult. Tire traction will be reduced
    • This includes I-25 at Glorieta Pass
  • Winter Storm Warning in effect until 6 PM MDT this evening
    • Heavy snow. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 6 inches
      • Except between 6 and 10 inches above 7,500 feet
    • Winds gusting as high as 50 mph
    • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Traffic speeds will be reduced. Strong winds will produce blowing and drifting snow with visibilities below one half of a mile at times
    • This includes Interstate 25 at Raton Pass
  • High Wind Warning in effect from 6 AM this morning to 8 PM MDT this evening
    • Northwest winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected
    • West winds 35 to 50 mph with gusts up to 70 mph
      • Where: Guadalupe and Delaware Mountains, Davis, and Chinati
    • Impacts: Strong winds will create patchy areas of blowing dust which will cause quickly changing visibilities. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles

 

Nebraska

Winter Weather Advisory
  • Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon MDT today
    • Snow. Total snow accumulations generally ranging from 2 to 5 inches with localized bands of 5 to 8 inches possible
      • The highest accumulations will be on grassy surfaces
    • Impacts: Hazardous travel conditions due to icy, snow covered roads and reduced visibilities in moderate to heavy snow
    • Where: Southwestern region 

 

Oklahoma

Wind Advisory
  • Wind Advisory remains in effect from 10 AM this morning to 8 PM CDT this evening
    • North winds of 35 mph with higher gusts are expected
    • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Travel could be difficult for high profile vehicles
    • Where: Oklahoma Panhandle

 

Texas

High Wind Warning
  • High Wind Warning remains in effect from 11 MDT this morning to 7 PM MDT this evening
    • Northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected
    • Impacts:Strong winds will make driving hazardous. The strong winds will also create patchy areas of blowing dust which will cause quickly changing visibilities

 

North Carolina

Flash Flood Warning / Flood Warning
  • Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until noon MDT today
    • Thunderstorms currently producing heavy rain in Raleigh. Up to 2 inches of rain have
      fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible
    • Impacts: Hazardous travel conditions due to icy, snow covered roads and reduced visibilities in moderate to heavy snow
    • Where: Raleigh
  • Flood Warning remains in effect until late tonight
    • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast
    • Where: Central North Carolina, Raleigh

 

Dense Fog Advisories include but are not limited to: Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island

  • Dense Fog Advisories in effect this morning

    • Visibility less than one mile in dense fog
    • Impacts: Low visibility will make navigation difficult

 

Additional Flood Warnings include but not limited to: Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama

  • Flood Advisories effective until further notice
