Taking shape as a potentially historic weather event, Winter Storm Xylia will shift across the Southwest through Friday and strengthen into a potential major winter storm through the weekend for parts of the central Rockies, with impacts expected in several cities including Cheyenne, Wyoming; Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins, Colorado. Roads – including stretches of Interstates 25, 70 and 80 – in the High Plains and Front Range are likely to become impassable and may be closed this weekend. Southeast of this storm, severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are possible over the southern Plains into the Ozarks Friday through Sunday.
