Summary:
A strong Pacific storm system will bring impactful and dangerous flooding rains, heavy snow, strong winds, coastal flooding, and high surf to California. Heavy rainfall will bring the threat for life-threatening flash, urban, and river flooding as well as debris flows and mudslides. High elevation snow may produce whiteout conditions and dangerous, near impossible travel conditions. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-90, I-84, I-15, I-86, I-80, I-40, I-10, I-94, I-29, I-35, I-70


California
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 9 AM PST this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by heavy showers.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. In addition, landslides are expected.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM PST this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 8 AM PST this morning

  • Southeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 AM PST this morning

  • Southeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 AM PST this morning

  • Moderate to heavy snow showers will continue this morning with additional snow accumulations 3 to 6 inches west of Highway 395, locally higher amounts of 6 to 14 inches above 6000 feet. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 9 AM PST this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM PST this morning

  • Minor coastal flooding expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 11:59 PM PST this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris.

Nevada
Flood Watch  remains in effect until 2 PM PST Tuesday afternoon

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM PST Tuesday afternoon

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of ten to eighteen inches with eighteen to twenty-four inches above 9000 feet. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM PST Tuesday afternoon

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

North Dakota
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM MST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. 

Wisconsin
Freezing Fog Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM CST today

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in freezing fog. Slick spots on untreated surfaces.
  • Impacts: Low visibility and slick spots could make driving conditions hazardous.
