Summary:
Heavy snow will continue to impact parts of the Northeast through Tuesday. A series of winter storm systems will continue to impact the West Coast through Wednesday with the final storm in the series pushing over the Southwest U.S. Wednesday into Thursday. Strong winds and dry conditions for portions of the southern High Plains will result in elevated to critical fire weather again Tuesday. Impacted Lanes: I-490, I-90, I-390, I-86, I-81, I-88, I-87, I-290, I-80, I-5, I-84, I-280, I-215, I-10, I-15, I-8, I-25, I-70, I-95, I-91, I-495, I-395


New York
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM EST this evening

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening

  • Heavy mixed precipitation. Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze. Storm total snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches. 
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning commute. Slippery roads are likely.

Louisiana
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CST this morning

  • Visibility around one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

California
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM PST Wednesday afternoon

  • Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations up to 12 inches below 5500 feet and 24 to 36 inches above 6500 feet. Winds gusting as high as 75 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM PST Wednesday evening

  • Wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches below 4500 feet to around 10 inches above 5000 feet. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM PST Wednesday evening

  • Southwest winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 PM PST Wednesday evening

  • West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Areas of blowing dust will reduce visibility at times.

Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 4 AM PST Wednesday morning

  • Heavy snow and strong winds. Blizzard conditions continue through tonight. Additional total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 feet. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel will be extremely dangerous to impossible with extended road closures likely. Blowing snow will cause white-out conditions at times. Downed trees and tree limbs with power outages are possible due to heavy snow and gusty winds. 

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM PST this afternoon

  • Flooding caused by snowmelt continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.
