U.S. Weather Update 2.23.24

Summary:
A pair of fronts will push across the East Coast into Friday with rain showers and a few thunderstorms. Snow showers and some mixed precipitation are likely in the Northeast U.S. High temperatures across most of the lower 48 states Friday will run above normal for this time of year. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-5, I-15, I-80, I-25, I-64, I-65, I-71, I-75, I-70, I-77, I-79, I-86


Montana
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 12 PM MST Saturday afternoon

  • West to southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 75 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM MST Monday evening

  • Southwest winds with gusts 50 to 60 mph at times tonight through Sunday, then gusts 60 to 70 mph Sunday night into Monday.
  • Impacts: Strong crosswinds will make travel difficult along Interstate 90 from Livingston to Big Timber and roads along the Beartooth Foothills.

North Carolina
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM EST this evening

  • 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level expected in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads (including NC 12) expected around high tide.

Ohio
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Additional Dense Fog Advisories include but are not limited to: Kentucky, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York, and Louisiana
