Summary:
Two powerful winter storms will bring widespread areas of wintry precipitation from coast to coast. Heavy snow, significant icing, and blizzard conditions are possible in portions of the Upper Midwest eastward into the Northeast. Heavy rain, snow, wind, and cold temperatures will affect much of California through the end of the week. Dangerous travel conditions are expected. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-80, I-20, I-94, I-29, I-35, I-494, I-39, I-75, I-41, I-43, I-89, I-91, I-93, I-87, I-88, I-395, I-495, I-295, I-95


New York
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 PM EST this evening

  • Mixed precipitation. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch. TOTAL snow accumulations of 6 to 11 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions WILL impact the morning commute. Plan on slippery road conditions.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM EST this evening

  • Mixed precipitation. Additional snow accumulations of an inch or less and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch.
  • Impacts: Difficult travel conditions are possible. The hazardous conditions WILL impact the morning commute.

Indiana
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM CST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

South Dakota
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM CST this afternoon

  • Blowing snow and very cold wind chills. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.

Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 12 PM CST this afternoon

  • Blizzard conditions. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. Conditions gradually improving through the morning but significant drifting still likely.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 12 PM CST this afternoon

  • Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of up to two inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. Conditions gradually improving through the morning but drifting still likely. 
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

New Mexico
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM MST this afternoon

  • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs may be blown down. Expect strong crosswinds on area roadways. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
