U.S. Weather Update 2.22.24

Summary:
A front will cross the eastern U.S. Thursday into Friday with rain showers and a few thunderstorms. Snow showers and some mixed precipitation are likely in the Northeast U.S. Elevated fire weather conditions are expected Thursday due to dry and windy conditions across the greater Big Bend region of southern Texas. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-15, I-80, I-76, I-25, I-75


Montana
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 12:15 PM MST Saturday afternoon

  • West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected across eastern Glacier county and gusts to around 75 mph expected in areas immediately adjacent to the Rocky Mountain Front.
  • Impacts: High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

California 
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 1 PM PST this afternoon

  • Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

Colorado
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM MST this morning

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions.

Tennessee
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 12:15 PM CST Saturday afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM CST this evening

  • Southwest winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
