U.S. Weather Update 2.10.25

Summary:
Lake effect snow will continue downwind of Lake Ontario through Monday, potentially dropping up to a foot of snow. A few inches of snow is possible downwind of Lake Erie. Arctic high pressure will usher in well below normal temperatures across the northern High Plains today through Monday. Temperatures are expected to be 20-30 degrees below normal before moderating Tuesday. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-490, I-81, I-88, I-87, I-64, I-77, I-65, I-75, I-71, I-275, I-29, I-95, I-4, I-10, I-5, I-15


Virginia
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM EST Wednesday afternoon

  • Heavy mixed winter precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 6 inches and ice accumulations up to one half an inch. Locally higher snow amounts north of I-64 west of Lexington. Locally higher ice amounts possible along the Blue Ridge.
  • Impacts: Ice accumulation on power lines and tree limbs may cause numerous power outages. Travel could be nearly impossible. Power outages may last multiple days. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes and the Wednesday morning commute.

New York
Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect until 4 AM EST Tuesday morning

  • Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations 4 to 8 inches in the most persistent lake snows.
  • Impacts: Travel will be difficult with snow covered roads and poor visibility at times. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening

  • Lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.

Kentucky
Flood Warning remains in effect until 7 PM CST Saturday evening

  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Flooding of small rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM EST Tuesday afternoon

  • Elevated river levels caused by excessive rainfall continue.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 AM EST Wednesday morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Water may be over roadways. 

 Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 AM EST Wednesday morning

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

Florida
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter of a mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

California
WInd Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM PST Tuesday evening

  • West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
