Summary:
A powerful system continues to produce heavy snow, blizzard conditions, and areas with a wintry mix across the north and central Plains; and severe storm and heavy rain threats across the South. Severe storms with all hazards, including intense tornadoes, and heavy to excessive rain that could cause flash flooding can be expected across the Deep and Middle South. Impacted Lanes: I-15, I-90, I-84, I-80, I-29, I-94, I-96, I-69, I-55, I-59, I-65, I-64, I-71


South Dakota
Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 5 AM MST Thursday morning

  • Blizzard conditions. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will produce blizzard or near blizzard conditions at times.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 AM CST Thursday morning

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST Thursday evening

  • Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Mississippi
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 AM CST this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CST this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.

Pennsylvania 
Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 AM EST Friday morning

  • Significant icing expected. Total ice accumulations of one quarter to one half inch. Total sleet accumulations up to one inch. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice and strong winds. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commute.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST Thursday evening

  • Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 3 inches and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commute.

Winter Storm Watch remains in effect until 7 AM EST Friday morning

  • Heavy mixed precipitation possible. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 4 to 6 inches and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch possible.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commute.

Maine
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM EST this afternoon

  • North winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and isolated power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles
