Summary: Winter Storm Bankston will continue to impact the West Tuesday before moving from the southern Rockies across the Plains to the upper Midwest on Wednesday. Storm total snowfall is expected to top out at several feet across the mountains of the Great Basin. Excessive rainfall in southern California my lead to flash flooding and debris flows. High winds will spread from the Southwest into the Great Lakes. Winter Advisories: California, Nevada, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, South Dakota

  • 5-10 inches additional snow
  • Until 10 PM today
I-80 is closed through the mountains. Also severely impacting transit along US-50

Heavy snow possible tomorrow across northern California
  • 8-12 inches of snow
    • Up to 2 feet
  • From Wednesday morning through Thursday morning

Heavy snow expected today across most of the state
  • 9-36 inches of snow
  • 65mph wind gusts
  • From 4 AM to 10 PM PST Tuesday
Will cause difficult travel conditions along I-80

Mixed precipitation expected tomorrow across north central and northeast SD
  • 1 inch of snow
