A storm over the Southwest will move northeastward to the Great Lakes through the weekend, bringing severe thunderstorms to the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley, showers to the Lower/Mid-Mississippi Valley, and snow from the central Plains to Great Lakes. Rain, gusty winds and mountain snow will impact the Pacific Northwest into the Northern Rockies through the weekend. California
Winter Weather Advisory
A storm arrives this afternoon, bringing periods of mountain
snow through late Saturday morning.
  • Snow amounts of 1 to 5 inches are expected over Shasta County above 2500 feet.
  • Precipitation will be mainly in the form of rain by Saturday afternoon except for higher peaks.
  • Another system arrives Sunday and continues into early Monday. Snow levels will start high and gradually lower.
  • Snow amounts of 4 to 8 inches are expected over the Sierra with local amounts up to 12 inches over higher peaks
Nevada
Winter Weather Advisory
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS
EVENING TO 10 PM PST SATURDAY
  • Snow expected. Snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches expected in the valleys, and possibly 3 to 6 inches at and above the 6000 foot level.
  • Where: Portions of eastern, north central, northeast, northwest and south central Nevada.
  • Most areas will receive some snowfall with lighter amounts expected across northern Nye County and the Wendover area.
  • Highway summits could be on the cusp of receiving up to 5 inches of snow over the course of this storm.
Washington

A weather system will spread steady light snow across Eastern Washington and portions of North Idaho Friday morning into the afternoon.
  • Snow may linger in some areas Friday evening.
  • WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO 1 PM PST FRIDAY
  • Total snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches with local amounts up to 3 inches.
  • WHERE...Republic, Inchelium, Wauconda, Chesaw Road, Highway 20 Wauconda Summit, Boulder Creek Road, and Sherman Pass.
Montana
Winter Weather Advisory
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM MST THIS MORNING
  • Freezing mist and freezing fog are occurring, with visibility less than 1/4 mile in some areas.
  • WHERE...Chouteau, Southern Rocky Mountain Front, Eastern Teton and Judith Basin.
  • Roads, sidewalks, and bridge surfaces are ice covered. Hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.
Utah
Winter Weather Advisory
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW until Sunday Additional snow accumulations of up to 9 to 12
  • Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
  • Northwest San Juan Mountains and Southwest San Juan Mountains
  • For the first Winter Weather Advisory, until 9 PM MST this evening. For the second Winter Weather Advisory, from 8 AM Saturday to 5 AM MST Sunday.

Accumulating Snow Expected Late Today into Saturday
  • A complex storm system will bring periods of light snow later today into Saturday morning.
  • Light to moderate snow accumulations are forecast during this time with impacts to travel overnight into Saturday morning.
  • WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 PM CST SATURDAY.
  • Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute
Michigan
Winter Storm Warning
WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 3 AM EST SUNDAY
  • Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 9 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze.
  • WHERE...Portions of central and west central Michigan.
  • From 10 PM this evening to 3 AM EST Sunday. 
  • Rain will change to a heavy wet snow tonight. The snow will continue through Saturday and taper off Saturday night.
  • snowfall rates could top an inch per hour. During the the transition there could be a period of freezing rain or sleet.
