U.S. Weather Update 11.18.22

Summary:
Prolonged heavy lake effect snow is expected to produce difficult to impossible travel, especially, downwind of Lakes Erie and Ontario. Some locations may be paralyzed by several feet of snow. A wintry mix is possible in western Texas, and much colder temps will sweep across much of the U.S. Damaging easterly winds and areas of fire weather threats will develop in northern and southern California. Impacted Lanes: I-94, I-196, I-90


California 
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 AM PST Saturday morning

  • Areas of northeast winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. Wind-prone ridgetops, peaks, and gaps may have gusts approach 70 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Michigan 
Winter Strom Warning remains in effect until 7 AM EST Saturday morning

  • Snow. Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches through tonight. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches likely Saturday and Saturday night.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult due to snow and ice covered roads and visibilities reduced to near zero at times. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commutes.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 AM EST Saturday morning

  • Heavy snow. Snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches through tonight. Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches likely Saturday and Saturday night.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning or evening commute.

New York 
Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect until 1 AM EST Saturday morning

  • For the Lake Effect Snow Warning, heavy lake effect snow. Storm total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 feet in the most persistent lake snows.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.
