U.S. Weather Update 11.15.24

Summary:
Gusty winds and low relative humidity will bring critical fire weather to parts of southern New England and Hawaii Friday where Red Flag Warnings have been issued. Several feet of snow may accumulate over the Cascades from late Friday night into Monday evening as a storm system move through the Pacific Northwest. Impacted Lanes: I-40, I-5, I-80, I-84, I-15, I-40, I-95, I-29, I-94, I-90, I-35, I-74, I-72, I-70, I-44, I-55, I-22


North Carolina
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM EST this afternoon

  • North winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM EST this evening

  • Up to 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level expected in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts:  Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 10 PM EST this evening

  • One to two feet of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: Water will be 1 to 2 feet above ground level in some areas resulting in a sufficient depth to close numerous roads. Flooding will extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays resulting in some road closures and flooding of vehicles.

Nevada
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM PST this evening

  • Snow. Snow accumulations up to 3 inches above 5000 feet. Up to one half of an inch accumulations below 5000 feet are expected, however lower valleys may see a rain/snow mix Friday afternoon before turning to snow late in the afternoon.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes.

Iowa
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.
