Summary: A powerful low pressure system will anchor across the Upper Midwest, while its trailing cold front sweeps through the central and eastern U.S. over the next couple of days. The biggest impact will be high winds and winter weather across the Upper Midwest. Meanwhile, another atmospheric river of moisture will inundate the Pacific Northwest through Friday with heavy rain and possible flooding. Advisories: North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa
 
North Dakota
Winter Weather Advisory
Snow expected today across the eastern half of the state
  • 1-3 inches of snow
    • 4-6 inches locally
  • 55mph wind gusts
  • From Noon today to 9 AM CST Friday
Will likely impact transit along I-94, I-29, and US-52
 
South Dakota
Blizzard Warning
Blizzard conditions expected this evening across northeast SD
  • 2-6 inches of snow
  • 55mph wind gusts
  • From 6 PM this evening to 6 PM CST Friday
Will likely impact transit along I-29
 
Winter Weather Advisory
Snow expected to begin this afternoon across southeast ND
  • 1-3 inches of snow
  • 55mph wind gusts
  • From 3 PM this afternoon to noon CST Friday
Will likely impact transit along I-29 and I-90
 
Minnesota
Winter Storm Warning
Heavy snow expected to begin this afternoon across north central MN
  • 5-8 inches of snow
  • From noon today to noon CST Friday
Winter Weather Advisory
Snow expected this afternoon across the western half of MN
  • 3-5 inches of snow
  • From noon today to noon CST Friday
Will likely impact transit along I-94 and I-90
 
Blizzard Warning
Blizzard conditions expected this evening across west central MN
  • 2-6 inches of snow
  • 55mph wind gusts
  • From 6 PM this evening to 6 PM CST Friday
Will likely impact transit along US-12 and US-75
 
Iowa
Winter Weather Advisory
Snow expected to begin overnight across northern IA
  • 1-2 inches of snow
  • 40-45mph wind gusts
  • From midnight tonight to 3 PM CST Friday
May impact transit along I-35
 
 
Additionally, Wind Advisories are in place across parts of California, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan, and New York while Flood Advisories are in place across parts of Washington and Oregon
