Weather Update 11.10.20 - U.S.

Eta will slowly shift north across the eastern Gulf of Mexico through much of the rest of this week, and could approach the Florida Gulf Coast later this week as a tropical storm, and possibly bring impacts from rain, wind, and storm surge. Meanwhile, Winter Storm Constance is bringing a swath of freezing rain and sleet along with a period of heavy snow from eastern Nebraska into northern Wisconsin Tuesday. Active Advisories: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin

  • From now til 4 AM PST Wednesday

  • 6-12 inches of snow
  • Through 10 am Wednesday

Snowfall continuing this morning across the Panhandle
  • 1-3 inches of snow
  • Until 10 AM PST Tuesday
Impacting transit including along I-90 through Lookout and Fourth of July Pass

  • 60mph wind gusts
  • Until noon MST today

Wyoming

Heavy snow expected to begin today over northwest WY
  • 3-6 inches of snow in the north
  • 4-8 inches of snow in the south
  • 6-12 inches in the Tetons
  • 45mph wind gusts
  • From 11 AM Tuesday to 10 PM MST Wednesday
Will make transit difficult through the region, including along US-89, US-191, and US-14
 
South Dakota

  • 3-6 inches of snow
  • From 8 AM this morning to 9 PM CST this evening
May impact transit along I-90
 
Nebraska
Ice Storm Warning
Significant icing and snow expected today across east central NB
  • 1/4 inch of ice
  • 1-2 inches of additional snow
  • 20-25mph wind gusts
  • Until 3 PM CST this afternoon
Widespread power outages and hazardous travel impacting transit including along I-80. NE-51 and NE-61 are closed due to impassable conditions.

Wintry precipitation continuing today across north central KS
  • Light glaze of ice
  • 1-2 inches additional snow
  • Until 3 PM CST this afternoon
Minnesota
Winter Storm Warning
Heavy snow expected today across southeast MN
  • 1/4 inch of ice
  • 4-7 inches of snow
  • Until 6 PM CST this evening
May impact transit along I-94, I-35, and I-90

Mixed precipitation occurring today across northwest IA
  • Heavy glaze of ice
  • Up to 3 inches of snow
  • Until 6 PM CST this evening
May impact transit along I-29
 
Wisconsin
Winter Storm Warning
Heavy snow beginning this afternoon across northern WI
  • Light glaze of ice
  • 5-8 inches of snow
  • From 3 PM this afternoon to 4 AM CST Wednesday
Will likely impact transit through the region
 
Tropical Storm Eta
 
Eta's track has shifted away from Florida, and is now centered in the southern Gulf of Mexico. The system may gain additional strength through Wednesday, but is expected to weaken as it potentially nears the U.S. Gulf Coast. Heavy rainfall affiliated with Eta is possible over southern Florida, however the exact track and intensity of the storm is uncertain at this time.
