Weather Update 10.23.20 - U.S.

A low pressure system will bring significant snowfall from the northern Rockies into the northern Plains this weekend, along with bitterly cold temperatures. Meanwhile, dry and gusty conditions will result in critical fire weather conditions over parts of California and the Four Corners region. Across the East, temperatures will gradually turn cooler in most areas with scattered precipitation. Active Advisories: Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska

Washington
Winter Storm Warning
Strong early season storm bringing heavy snow conditions to the Cascades today
  • 7-13 inch accumulation
  • 40mph wind gusts
  • From 8 AM this morning to 5 AM PDT Saturday
Will impact transit along I-90, US-195, US-395, and US-2, including Snoqualmie Pass and Stevens Pass
 
Idaho 
Winter Storm Warning
Heavy snow expected across the panhandle tonight into Saturday
  • 6-12 inch accumulation
  • 12-18 inch accumulation above 4,000ft
  • From 3 PM MDT /2 PM PDT/ Friday to noon MDT /11 AM PDT/Saturday
Will impact transit along I-90, US-2, and US-95 including Lookout Pass, Fourth of July Pass, and Dobson Pass
 
Montana
Winter Storm Warning
Heavy snow expected across western and central MT tonight into Saturday
  • 7-15 inch accumulation
  • Up to 20 inches in the mountains
  • 35mph wind gusts
  • From 3 PM this afternoon to 9 PM MDT Saturday
Will impact transit along I-90, I-15, and US-93, US-12, US-87, US-89, and US-191 including through Lookout Pass
 
Wyoming
Winter Storm Warning
Heavy snow expected across northwest WY late tonight into Saturday
  • 8-14 inch acuumulation
  • 25-35mph wind gusts
  • From midnight tonight to midnight MDT Saturday night
Will impact transit along US 89, US-191, US-14, US-26, and US-212 including through Teton and Togwotee passes
 
North Dakota
Winter Storm Watch
Heavy snow possible across southwest ND Saturday morning through Sunday
  • 4-8 inch accumulation possible
Could impact transit along I-94, US-12, US-85, US-16, 
 
South Dakota 
Winter Storm Watch
Heavy snow possible across western SD Saturday morning through Sunday
  • 4-8 inch accumulation possible
Could impact transit along I-90, US-85, US-18
 
Nebraska 
Winter Storm Watch
Snow and windy conditions possible across central NB Saturday night through Monday
  • 5-7 inch accumulation possible
