Low pressure will bring locally heavy snowfall from the Northern Rockies into the Dakotas and parts of Minnesota through Thursday with well below normal temperatures. Farther east, showers and thunderstorms are expected from the Midwest into the Central Plains. Meanwhile, critical fire weather conditions will prevail in California, the Great Basin, and Southern High Plains. Active Advisories: Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota

Winter Weather Advisory
Early season snow today in the Idaho panhandle mountains
  • 1-2 inches of snow
  • Up to 4 inches locally
  • Impacting regions above 4000ft
  • From noon today to 8 PM PDT this evening. 
Treacherous driving conditions expected, including along I-90 through Lookout Pass
 
Montana
Winter Storm Warning
Heavy snow and blowing winds today in south central Montana
  • 10-15 inches of snow
  • Winds gusting up to 30mph
  • From noon today to 6 PM MDT Thursday.
Winter Weather Advisory
Wintry conditions expected today across much of the state 
  • 1-3 inches of snow 
  • Up to 6 inches of mountain snow
  • From noon today to 10 AM MDT Thursday.
Will likely impact transit along I-90, I-94, and I-15
 
Wyoming
Winter Storm Warning
Heavy snow and blowing winds expected today in north central WY
  • 6-10 inches of snow
  • From 6 PM this evening to 6 PM MDT Thursday.
May impact transit along I-90
 
North Dakota
Winter Storm Watch
Heavy snow possible across southern ND late tonight through Thursday night
  • 5-10 inches possible
South Dakota 
Winter Storm Watch
Heavy snow possible across northern SD late tonight through Thursday night
  • 4-6 inches possible
Minnesota 
Winter Storm Watch
Heavy snow possible across north central MN late tonight through Thursday night
  • 6-8 inches possible
 
 
Additionally, Hurricane Epsilon has formed in the mid-Atlantic, and while US landfall is not expected, dangerous surf and rip currently are expected along portions of the east coast over the next several days
