U.S. Weather Update 10.15.24

Summary:
Cooler temperatures are forecast for the Midwest and portions of the Eastern U.S. early this week as a cold front progresses through. Some light snow accumulations may be possible in parts of the Upper Midwest, Central Appalachians and Northeast. Gusty winds will bring elevated fire weather conditions in southern Kansas, southwest Missouri and Oklahoma Tuesday. Impacted Lanes: I-40, I-26, I-5, I-15, I-25, I-75, I-4, I-95


California
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 AM PDT Friday morning

  • West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM PDT Friday evening

  • Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Florida
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: Major widespread and long duration flooding occurs, with water rescues and evacuations necessary. Most low-lying homes become uninhabitable due to 2 to 3 feet water depth in many areas of the community on or near the river. Water is over roadways. 

Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 5 AM EDT Wednesday morning

  • Moderate coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure will be inundated.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 5 AM EDT Wednesday morning

  • Minor coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.
