U.S. Weather Update 10.12.22

Summary:
Showers and thunderstorms, a few of which may produce strong/gusty winds, marginal hail, and heavy rainfall are expected Wednesday across the eastern U.S. Dry, gusty to high winds may result in rapid wildfire spread in the central and northern Plains Wednesday and Thursday.


South Dakota
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 6 PM MDT this evening

  • Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph, is expected
  • Impacts: The high winds may blow down large trees and damage roofs, small outbuildings, and signs. Power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Strong winds can cause blowing dust, reduced visibility, and flying debris.

North Dakota
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM MDT this evening

  • Northwest winds gusting as high as 55 mph is expected
  • Impacts: Unsecured objects will be blown around. Driving will be difficult. Blowing dust will be possible in open areas with exposed ground, and may create reduced visibility.
