Summary: Our first significant winter storm system of the year will continue producing heavy mountain snow, high winds, and much below normal temperatures. Isolated severe storms may produce all hazards from the Mississippi Valley to the Great Lakes. An offshore low with a low chance of subtropical development may produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds in eastern North Carolina. Advisories: Idaho, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, South Dakota

Heavy snow expected tonight across higher elevations of southeast ID
  • Below 6000ft
    • 2-6 inches of snow
  • Above 6000ft
    • 6-14 inches of snow
    • Up to 20 inches along ridges and passes
  • Winds gusting up to 40mph
  • From midnight tonight to noon MDT Tuesday
Winter Weather Advisory
Snow expected overnight tonight across eastern ID
  • 2-5 inches of snow
    • Up to 12 inches along ridges and passes
  • Winds gusting up to 40mph
  • From midnight tonight to 6 AM MDT Tuesday
Will likely impact transit along I-15, including through Lookout Pass, and I-84

    • 4-10 inches of snow

  • 6+ inches of snow
  • 45mph wind gusts
  • From Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon

Heavy snow possible this evening across south central UT
  • 8-18 inches of snow
  • From Monday evening through Tuesday evening
May impact transit along I-15 and I-70

Snow expected to begin overnight tonight across western CO
  • 4-8in of snow, up to 12in
  • 40mph wind gusts
  • From 6 PM this evening to midnight MDT Tuesday night
May impact transit along I-70
 
South Dakota
Winter Storm Watch
Heavy, wet snow possible Tuesday afternoon across west central SD
  • 6+ inches of snow
  • 45mph winds
