U.S. Weather Update 1.25.23

Summary:
An intensifying storm will bring a swath of heavy rain from the South Plains to the Great Lakes and into the Northeast. Severe storms with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes will possible. Locally heavy rain may cause flooding for parts of the Southeast and coastal New England. Warming temperatures and lower elevation freezing rain will produce slick roads in south-central Alaska. Impacted Lanes: I-71, I-77, I-271, I-76, I-90, I-94, I-49, I-44, I-57, I-80, I-88, I-74, I-65, I-69, I-70, I-75, I-64, I-66, I-68, I-86, I-81, I-91, I-87


Ohio 
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 PM EST this evening

  • Snow occurring. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commute.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 3 PM EST this afternoon

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 9 inches.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commute.

California
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 6 PM PST Thursday evening

  • Northeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down large objects such as trees and power lines. Power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM PST Thursday evening

  • Northeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Pennsylvania 
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM EST this afternoon

  • Mixed precipitation. Snow and sleet accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations around two tenths of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning commute.

Additional High Wind Warnings  include but are not limited to: Maine, Montana and Wyoming
