Summary:
A winter storm will intensify across the Plains with areas of heavy snow, a wintry mix, severe storms, and critical fire weather threats. A cold front will bring another round of heavy mountain snow to California before a prolonged drier period. Impacted Lanes: I-80, I-90, I-84, I-5, I-82, I-70, I-76


Alabama
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Texas 
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 PM CST this evening

  • West winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Blowing dust could reduce visibility across the plains.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM CST this evening

  • West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Blowing dust could reduce visibility across the plains.

Nebraska 
Winter Strom Warning remains in effect until 11 PM MST this evening

  • Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 9 to 17 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 AM CST Thursday morning

  • Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 5 inches and ice accumulations of up to three tenths of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

California
Winter Strom Warning remains in effect until 4 AM PST Thursday morning

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations below 4500 feet of 4 to 10 inches. Total snow accumulations above 5500 feet of 15 to 20 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 9 PM PST this evening

  • Flooding caused by other multiple causes continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Several structures are flooded and some sand bagging operations are continuing. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM PST this evening

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 6 inches below 3000 feet, up to 12 inches over the higher peaks.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM PST this evening

  • Minor coastal flooding is expected or occurring.
  • Impacts: Flooding of areas is expected, including low lying lots, parks, and roads along the coast.
