Weather Update 1.15.21 - U.S.

Winter Storm Malcolm, a large and powerful low pressure system in the Central U.S., will bring heavy snow and high winds as winter storm and blizzard warnings are in effect for portions of the Upper Midwest and mid-Mississippi Valley. There are also elevated fire weather threats in the south-central Plains and a critical fire weather threat in southern California. Active Advisories: North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine

Impacting transit along I-29; no travel advised north of South Shore

Minnesota

Blizzard conditions occurring today across southern MN
  • 1-3 inches of snow
  • 50mph wind gusts
  • Until 6 PM CST this evening
I-90 is currently closed from the ND border east to exit 119. Severely impacting transit along I-90 east of exit 1129 to the WI border, as well as I-35 and I-94.
