Weather Update 01.10.22 - U.S.

Posted by Jarrett on Jan 10, 2022 9:51:30 AM

Summary:  It's a cold start to the week across the Northern tier of the U.S. as a plethora of wind chill advisories and warnings are in effect. Heavy lake effect snow is likely downwind of the Great Lakes early this week. Continuing snow bands will set up mostly in portions of northern lower Michigan, as well as northern Ohio, northwestern Pennsylvania and upstate New York. This will impact travel on Interstates 75, 81 and 90. Highest amounts of snow will probably pile up across upstate New York. Places like Oswego, Lowville, Rome and Utica could see up to 24 inches through early Tuesday. Wind gusts in these states are also expected to hit 35-40 mph, producing blowing snow and whiteout conditions. Also, temperatures will drop into the teens and single digits Monday night, with wind chills in the -20s to -30s.

The snowfall has stopped accumulating over the western half of the United States. The states impacted will start to dig out and recover from over a week of high snowfall accumulations.
