FedEx Freight Spin-Off Signals Shift in the LTL Market

FedEx Freight is set to become an independent, publicly traded company on June 1, 2026, marking a major structural shift in the less-than-truckload (LTL) market. The separation will create a standalone LTL carrier operating under the ticker symbol FDXF, splitting one of North America’s largest integrated logistics networks into two distinct organizations.

Mark Gordon, Chief Operating Officer at Jarrett, explains how this split will impact the supply chain landscape. To learn more, click HERE.

Cargo Theft-1Venezuela’s Port Infrastructure Affects Regional Shipping Flow

Venezuela’s key container gateways, including Puerto Cabello and La Guaira, face operational challenges from years of infrastructure deterioration and logistical bottlenecks. Limited container handling capacity and extended dwell times have slowed cargo moves in and out of the country, even as major carriers maintain service calls. With only about six of Venezuela’s roughly 25 ports handling major container traffic, shippers routing through the region are expected to experience transit delays due to the underutilization of the remaining ports.

“As port conditions continue to stabilize, we expect some delays to persist in the near term,” said Justin McInturff, International Logistics Manager at Jarrett. “Shippers should proactively plan by adjusting transit schedules, building flexibility into their carrier and routing strategies and considering alternative ports in the region to avoid potential bottlenecks.”

Cargo Theft (2)Cyberattacks on Logistics Expected to Surge in 2026

Cyberattacks targeting logistics companies are expected to double in 2026. A new Everstream Analytics report, tracking incidents across ports, carriers and third-party logistics providers, highlights the growing threat. The report indicates attacks have been up nearly 1,000% since 2021. Hackers are increasingly targeting shared transportation and technology networks, where a single breach can disrupt shipments, tighten capacity and drive-up costs across global supply chains.

“As logistics networks become more digital and interconnected, shippers should prepare for cyber-related disruptions,” said Aaron Schar, Director of Information Technology at Jarrett. “They can do this by strengthening contingency plans, diversifying transportation partners and building flexibility into their supply chains to respond quickly when systems are impacted.”

Cargo Theft (3)LTL Shipping Forecasts Growth Despite Uncertain Conditions

After a challenging 2025, industry leaders expect the LTL market to rebound in 2026. Though it’s still unclear when full momentum will return, carrier executives point to easing interest rates, improving consumer sentiment and potential economic stimulus as key factors that could drive higher freight demand next year. At the same time, industry capacity is lower than pre-pandemic levels, setting the stage for tighter space and upward pressure on rates once volumes recover.

“Right now, there’s LTL capacity available and pricing pressure is softer. But the market already looks different by lane and by carrier. As demand comes back, the shippers who plan ahead and stay aligned with carriers that actually fit their freight will be the ones in the strongest position,” said Jared Williams, Vice President, Logistics Operations at Jarrett.
