Weather Update 6.17.20

Posted by Jarrett on Jun 17, 2020 7:46:53 AM

The summer solstice is this Saturday but someone forgot to tell that to Old Man Winter as heavy mountain snow piles up over portions of the northern Rockies this morning. This is due to an intense upper low swinging through the region today that is accompanied by temperature anomalies ranging between 15 to 20 degrees below normal throughout the region. Winter Storm Warnings have been issued for parts of north-central Idaho and southwest Montana along with some frost advisories in northern Nevada, far northern California, and south-central Oregon. States with Active Advisories: Idaho, Montana

Idaho - Winter Storm Warning - East Central. 2 inches of additional snow, with 5-9 inches additional above 7000ft until noon MDT today. Impacting transit through mountain passes

Montana - Winter Storm Warning - Southwest. 6-10 inches of additional snow above 6000ft until noon MDT today. Impacting transit through mountain passes including Homestake Pass on I-90.
