Summary:
An atmospheric river will bring threats of gusty to high winds and heavy rainfall to California mainly Thursday into Saturday which may bring areas of flooding and wind damage. Heavy snow will be possible over the Sierra Nevada mountains Thursday into Friday associated with the atmospheric river. Minor to severe geomagnetic storming (space weather) is expected to continue into early Thursday.Oregon
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM this evening.
- South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
- Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and a few power outages may result.
California
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 4 PM Thursday until 7 AM Friday.
- Heavy snow above 6500 feet.
- Snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches. South of Highway 50 with 12 to 18 inches at the highest peaks.
- Wind gusts as high as 50 mph.
Flood Watch remains in effect from 10 AM this morning through Friday afternoon.
- Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
- Excessive run off may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Nevada
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM tonight.
- South winds 20 to 30 with gusts of 40 to 50 for Sierra valleys.
- Winds along the highest peaks 50 to 60 with gusts up to 100 mph.
