Summary:
Severe storms capable of producing large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes, some of which could be strong will be possible in the Midwest and Ohio Valley through tonight. A strong winter storm continues to produce impacts across the west including heavy snow, gusty winds and rain. Critical fire weather conditions will continue across the Texas Panhandle into Oklahoma through this evening. Impacted Lanes: I-80, I-50, I-5, I-90, I-84, I-10, I-20, I-35, I-49, I-24, I-65, I-840, I-40, I-75, I-64, I-77, I-70, I-71, I-94, I-96, I-66, I-95, I-99, I-86, I-81, I-88, I-87


Kentucky
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 AM EST this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM EST this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM EST this afternoon

  • Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph, with gusts 35 to 50 mph expected. The strongest gusts are generally expected above 2000 feet elevation.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.

California
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 AM PST Friday morning

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to 16 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Tire chains may be necessary if travelling through mountain passes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. 

Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 10 AM PST Saturday morning

  • Snow accumulations 4 to 8 feet above 6000 feet. Total snow 2 to 4 feet from 5000 feet to 6000 feet. Snowfall 1 to 3 feet from 4000 feet to 5000 feet. Total snow accumulations 1 to 2 feet above 2500 feet. Winds may gust as high as 65 mph on exposed ridgetops and along the crest.
  • Impacts: Travel will be extremely difficult and dangerous to impossible. Widespread blowing snow can reduce visibility to near zero with whiteout conditions. Strong winds and heavy snow load could cause tree damage and power outages.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PST Thursday morning

  • South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected in exposed areas.
  • Impacts: Wind gusts will be particularly strong along windward ridges and exposed coastal headlands. There is an increased risk of tree branches and other debris on roadways. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 AM PST Thursday morning

  • South winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 75 mph expected at high elevations. Gusts up to 60 mph at low elevations along the coast.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 AM PST Sunday morning

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 7 to 12 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible, including Highway 168 through Westgard Pass east of Big Pine. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

New York
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 1 PM EST Thursday afternoon

  • West winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM EST Thursday afternoon

  • West winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Trees and tree limbs could be blown down and some power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST Thursday evening

  • Lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches. Winds may gust as high as 30 mph, resulting in near-blizzard conditions at times.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage.

Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST Thursday evening

  • Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 9 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph will produce extensive blowing and drifting snow and near blizzard conditions at times.
  • Impacts: Travel will be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning commute on Thursday.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 AM EST Thursday morning

  • Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

Texas 
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM CST this afternoon

  • North winds 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM CST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Summary:
A strong winter storm will continue to progress across the Great Basin and Rockies bringing heavy mountain snow, high winds, and near blizzard conditions that will cause dangerous travel conditions. Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain are possible late Tuesday through the night from parts of the mid-Mississippi Valley to the Ohio Valley and southern Lower Michigan. North Dakota
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM MST this morning

  • Blowing snow reducing visibilities. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph.
  • Impacts: Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Tuesday morning commute.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening

  • Heavy snow. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on difficult travel. Blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commute.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening

  • North winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Patchy blowing snow could reduce visibility to less than 1 mile. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Texas
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 8 PM MST this evening

  • West winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 70 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles like campers, vans, and tractor trailers. Blowing dust can reduce visibility suddenly to zero, especially in areas where bare fields exist. Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM CST this evening

  • West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Connecticut
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EST this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 AM EST Thursday morning

A strong winter storm will continue to progress into the Northern Rockies and Great Basin, bringing heavy mountain snow and strong winds through Tuesday. Heavy snow combined with strong winds will produce near-blizzard conditions, with snow rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Dry, gusty winds will create widespread critical fire weather conditions in the southern High Plains through Monday. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-5, I-84, I-15, I-10, I-8, I-40, I-25, I-70, I-80, I-94


Nevada
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 PM PST this evening

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches above 6500 feet. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches below 6500 feet. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Travel is discouraged.

Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 4 AM PST Tuesday morning

  • Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations of 12 to 20 inches. Winds gusting as high as 70 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage. Travel is discouraged.

Montana
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 12 PM MST Saturday afternoon

  • West to southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 75 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM MST Monday evening

  • Southwest winds with gusts 50 to 60 mph at times tonight through Sunday, then gusts 60 to 70 mph Sunday night into Monday.
  • Impacts: Strong crosswinds will make travel difficult along Interstate 90 from Livingston to Big Timber and roads along the Beartooth Foothills.

North Carolina
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM EST this evening

  • 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level expected in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.

A Pacific storm with atmospheric river will continue periods of heavy rain, mountain snow, and strong winds across much of California through Tuesday. Locally considerable flash, urban, and small stream flooding impacts are possible along the Transverse Ranges in southern California.   • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 AM MST this morning

  • West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph.
  • Impacts: Mainly to transportation. Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight or high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM MST Wednesday evening

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches.

Heavy rain may cause flooding along the Central California coast and the Transverse Range in Southern California. Severe thunderstorms pose a threat for hail, damaging wind gusts, and an isolated tornado across portions of the Sacramento Valley. A few feet of snow may fall over the Sierra Nevada and Shasta Siskiyous. A warming trend is expected across the Great Plains and Mississippi Valley. California
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 10:30 AM PST this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of urban areas, streets, underpasses and low-lying areas will likely occur. Mud and debris flows, as well as rockslides are also expected, especially in and near steep terrain. There will be significant ponding of water on area roadways.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 PM PST Tuesday evening

  • Heavy snow expected above 5000 feet. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 feet. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 8 AM PST this morning

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Roadway and small stream flooding is expected this morning, especially in low lying and poor drainage areas. As heavier rainfall overspreads the county, the threat of flooding, mudslides, and debris flows will increase.

Heavy high elevation snowfall will continue in the Intermountain West through the weekend. A fast moving storm will produce a brief period of accumulating snow in the Northeast and widespread lake effect snow downwind of the Great Lakes. Accumulating snow is also possible from a portion of the Central Plains into the Mid-Atlantic. Heavy rains are possible in South Texas.
